BTM Approach to Writing and Grammar We will help you fulfil the English class requirement for your homeschooled child. Students will be taught effective writing, starting with sentences, and going up to essays. Three types of writing -- Persuasive, Expository, and Narrative -- will be covered. Given the nature of virtual classrooms, we will use movement and "oral writing" techniques to bolster learning. A portion of the class will be devoted to specific lessons on grammar. Students should have a Google account via which they can submit their written assignments. Furthermore, students may be asked to create an account on Quizlet and/or other site that supports our content.
BTM Spelling and Phonics Is spelling a problem for your student? Fifty percent of the English language can be spelled by its sounds. In this class, we will cover phonics from A-Z, in order to give your child the ability to spell. At the same time, we will work on memorization of the other fifty percent, where the words are not spelled the way that they sound. Whole language, visual cues, and tactile manipulations will be our tools. Once these things are mastered, we will add reading fluency to the coursework.
